Scrape the stinger out with a credit card (don't use tweezers, as they might squeeze more venom in). Wash with soap and apply an ice pack. Watch for signs of an allergic reaction (swelling of lips/throat).

Do not try to straighten the bone. Immobilize the area using a splint (a piece of wood or folded cardboard) and tie it gently with cloth. Apply an ice pack to reduce swelling.

Modern medical advice suggests avoiding it for routine cleaning, as it can damage healthy skin cells and slow healing. Plain soap and water or a mild antiseptic are safer.

Lay them flat on their back and elevate their legs about 12 inches. This helps blood flow back to the brain. Loosen tight clothing. If they don't wake up within a minute, call a doctor.

Run cool (not ice-cold) tap water over the burn for 10-20 minutes. Do not use butter, toothpaste, or ice, as these can damage the tissue further. Cover loosely with a sterile bandage.
